Planning for College - 9th Grade Plan

9th Grade | 10th Grade | 11th Grade | 12th Grade

Ok, now let’s begin by planning your college preparatory track. Your course schedule throughout high school should include the following classes:

English and Literature: 4 years
Math: 3 to 4 years (Algebra through Pre-calculus or Trigonometry recommended)
Foreign Language: 2 to 3 years
Laboratory/Natural/Physical Science: 2 to 4 years
History and Social Science: 2 years
Electives: 3 years (Art, Journalism or Music are examples)

Remember to take at least four solid academic classes each semester. If you are interested in Engineering, medicine or computers take as many Math and Science classes as you can. If you are strong in History, English or the Arts, take extra classes in these subjects.

*Honors and Advanced Placement Courses are always a good thing, but you need to make sure you balance your time carefully.
